Bio

Senator Lonnie M. Randolph was first elected to the Indiana Senate Democratic Caucus in 1994. After the completion of his first term, he became a judge for the East Chicago City Court in 1998. Randolph was re-elected to serve the 2nd Senate District in November of 2008.Sen. Randolph represents Senate District 2 which encompasses portions of Lake County. District 2 communities include East Chicago, Whiting, and portions of Gary, Griffith, Hammond, Hobart and Merrillville.As a former State Senator, Randolph advocated on behalf of legislation for women's rights, union rights, job creation and assistance for small businesses. Randolph extensively worked on health care legislation by examining HMO mental health policies at the Lilly Symposium as a member of the National Black Caucus of State Legislators.Randolph serves as the Ranking Democrat of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also is a member of the Senate Standing Committees on Agriculture/Natural Resources, Commerce & Technology/Utilities, Public Policy and Tax & Fiscal Policy. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Northern Illinois University and with a Law Degree from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Randolph is now a sole practitioner of his own law firm, Lonnie M. Randolph Law Office. Within Senate District 2, Randolph serves on the Gary Chamber of Commerce and Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the NAACP, Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Mason East Chicago, Lakeside Grand Lodge #47, A. Phillip Randolph Labor Union Gary Branch, God's Mighty Men, Chairman of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus (IBLC) and a member of Friendship Baptist Church Trustee Board of Directors. Randolph resides in East Chicago with his wife, Linda, two children, Lakesha and Lonnie II, and his one grandchild.
