I grew up in Webster City, Iowa, graduated high school in 1964, and entered the USAF at 17. During my four years on Active Duty, I spent one-year learning electronics, one-year teaching electronics, and the final two years working on Avionics systems on B-58, B-52, KC135, and U2 aircraft in SAC.
After honorably leaving the Air Force I attended college and received a Political Science degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1973. That same year I married my amazing wife Trish.
The year we moved to Olathe (1977), I joined the Air Force Reserve. I am a Viet Nam Veteran from Active Duty and also deployed short times to many countries while with the Reserves. After thirty-two years of service, I retired in uniform as an SMSgt with the reserves, and WS12 with the Department of the Air Force.
Since retiring, I have kept busy with 'honey do's" spoiling Alabama Grandkids, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, acting as a Democratic Precinct Captain, helping other candidates with campaigns, and working as a "dishwasher" at Grace United Methodist Church on Wednesday community meals.
I am passionate about serving the public and felt the need for better representation here in my community. This is what motivated me to run! I want to fight the rising cost of living, support public education, and increase access to affordable quality healthcare.
I hope to earn your votes, and I look forward to bringing your stories with me to Topeka! |
