Representative Terry Thompson, a Republican, represents Lafayette and parts of Jackson and Johnson Counties (District 53) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2020.
Prior to serving in the legislature, Thompson was a banking executive for 40 years in Lafayette County. He was a member of the American Bankers Association Ag and Rural Committee.
Thompson is a former Lexington R-V School Board member and past member of the Missouri State School Board Association. He served as past president for the Lexington Rotary Club, as a member of the Pioneer Trails Regional Planning Committee, the Higginsville Enhanced Enterprise Zone Committee, and he was an inaugural board member for the Healthcare Foundation of Greater Kansas City and the Lafayette County Children's Service Fund. He is also a deacon at First Baptist Church in Lexington.
Born in Lexington, Thompson obtained degrees from the University of Central Missouri, Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University, and a Financial Planning Diploma from UMKC. He currently resides in Lexington with his wife, Marcia. They have one daughter, Charity, one son, Austin, and a grandson, Owen. |
