A Republican, represents part of Jasper County (District 163) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2016 and re-elected in 2018. He currently serves as the Chairman of the House Budget Committee.
In addition to his legislative duties, Smith owns a company that uses technology to prevent infectious diseases from spreading in healthcare facilities. Additionally, he has been a member of the National Association of Realtors for 14 years.
Smith is a member of the Carthage Tree Board and serves on the Carthage Planning and Zoning Variance Committee. He is also a member of the following organizations- Carthage, Carl Junction and Webb City Chambers of Commerce; Rotary Club International; Lions Clubs International; National Rifle Assoc.; NFIB; Sigma Pi Fraternity International.
Smith is a graduate of Carthage High School and studied business at Missouri Southern State University.
