Bio

Work hard. Help people. Leave things better than you found them. Those are the principles by which Doug Beck and his wife Marilyn aspired to raise their children, and the example they hope to set for their young grandchildren. For thirty-eight years, Doug has proudly served as a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562, living his blue-collar values and helping others both as a skilled tradesman and as a mentor and advocate for his union brothers and sisters. A firm believer in the power of good schools to educate our children and strengthen our communities, Doug served for nine years as a Director on the Affton School Board, including two years as President. Affton has been recognized by the Missouri School Board Association for its outstanding performance and was ranked as one of the top districts in St. Louis County by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. During Doug's tenure on the Affton School Board, Doug worked to expand Early Childhood Education (culminating in the building of a new Early Childhood Center) and to increase opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Doug's principles extend to his service as our State Senator. He is fighting to ensure a strong economy that isn't rigged for the wealthy and powerful. For safe schools that prepare our children for whatever future to which they aspire. For honest, transparent government. And for a woman's right to make her own healthcare decisions safely and without interference. A graduate of Lindbergh High School and St. Louis Community College, Doug and his wife have two children and four young grandchildren, and they share their home with their two dogs.
