Scott is a native North Dakotan, raised on a farm near Petersburg, ND. He grew up working on the family farm and learned early on the value of hard work and resiliency.
After graduating from Larimore High School, Scott went on to earn a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of North Dakota
Political Career
Scott won District 18 in 2016 and carried that momentum to Bismarck in his first session 0f 2017. Distinguishing himself early on, he was assigned to the Taxation Committee and Government and Veterans Affairs Committee. His first bill he authored (SB 2340) became law relating to fees charged by a county recorder for filing mortgage disclosures.
In the 2019 Legislative Session, Senator Meyer was again assigned to the Taxation and Government and Veterans Affairs Committee, over which he presided as Vice Chair. Scott was the primary author for five bills including SB 2306, military spouse licensure reciprocity.
Senator Meyer has spent much of his time working on veterans and military affairs issues while in the legislature, operating Benchmark Mortgage, and as a member of the Military Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. |
