Bio

Don Chapman was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2022. He is a lifelong Anderson County resident and businessman who has been very active in the community for more than four decades, beginning with the Anderson Rescue Squad in 1980. Prior to serving in the State House, he served as a Councilman for the City of Anderson for nearly 14 years. After attending Anderson District 5 public schools, Don self-funded his education to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design where he received a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and a Master's degree in Architecture. While earning these degrees and becoming a registered architect, Chapman worked full-time for several architectural firms before founding his own firm in 1994. The following year he married his wife, Amy, and they have now been married 28 years. He currently serves on the Anderson County Transportation Committee, regularly attends the Lake Hartwell Partners for Clean Water Committee, and is also involved in the Water Resources Committee. Previously, Chapman served on the Anderson Area Transportation Study Policy Committee, Zoning Board for the City of Anderson, Board of Directors for several organizations including the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, Anderson Heritage, Main Street Program of Anderson, Anderson Sertoma Club, and is a past president and board member of the Anderson County Arts Center and Home Builders Association of Anderson. Don also served on the Anderson Area Transit Study Committee for thirteen years, and was appointed to the Anderson County Transportation Committee (ACTC), allowing District 8 to have a voice. He has received numerous local, state, and national awards for his architectural designs. One award remains most special to him, being named the 2018 Small Business of the Year by the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce. This year, Don and Amy celebrate 30 years in business.
