| Terry Alexander serves House District 59 (Florence and Darlington counties) in the South Carolina House of Representatives and has been an elected official for over 26 years. Beginning his career as the field director for Congressman Robin Tallon, he served on the Florence County Council for 16 years, twice as Chairman.
A businessman, education consultant, career development counselor, pastor and adjunct professor of religion, Alexander received his B.A. from Francis Marion University and his M. Div. degree from Howard University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate degree and serves as Chaplin of the Executive Committee of the SC Legislative Black Caucus.
The many advocacy and outreach organizations with which Terry Alexander has been involved include the Florence Breakfast Club, the Mercy Medicine Board, the Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, the NAACP, the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, the HIV-AIDS Task Force, the SC Institute of Medicine and Public Health's Health Policy Fellows Program, and the House of Representatives' Study Committee on Opioid Abuse. He also has served as Regional Chair for the National Black Caucus of State Legislators.
Alexander serves or has served on the Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee, the Education and Public Works Committee, and the Regulations and Administrative Procedures Committee. He is married to Ms. Starlee Davis Alexander, and they have two children, Terrell McClain and Matthew. |
