Gino was raised in Tampa, Florida, where he was born to Eugene and Virginia Bulso. A standout tennis player, Bulso was recruited by Cornell College, where he pursued degrees in history and philosophy and excelled in tennis. He made family history by graduating in May 1983 with a Bachelor of Philosophy in History, the first in his family to earn a college degree.
Following his undergraduate studies, Bulso was drawn to Emory University School of Law, earning his Doctor of Law in 1986. That same year, he married Kathy Bain, and they settled in Nashville, Tennessee, where they raised five children between 1987 and 1993.
