Chris Hurt is the State Representative for the 82nd District. Today, the 82nd district includes Lauderdale, Crockett, and Haywood counties. With redistricting, the 82nd District will include all of Lauderdale and Crockett counties, along with large portions of Gibson and Obion counties. First elected in 2018, Chris has served for two terms as State Representative. During his first term Chris served as the assistant majority Whip for the Republican Caucus. Currently, Chris serves on the Transportation Committee, Ag and Natural Resources Full and Sub Committee, K-12 Sub Committee and serves as Vice-Chair on the Education Administration Committee.
Chris graduated from Halls High School in 1990 and, while playing football at Lambuth University, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995.
When he is not serving his district, Chris is a real estate broker for his brokerage, Hurt Land and Realty in Halls. He is also heavily involved with his family in agriculture. Previously, Chris taught at Halls High School for 14 years and coached football, 9 years as Head Coach.
Chris strives to be a strong conservative voice for the 82nd District and rural West Tennessee. He is 100% Pro-Life, a strong defender of the 2nd Amendment, and fights against any new taxes. He is proud to serve in the Tennessee General Assembly where we balance our budget each year, keep taxes low, and are considered the #1 fiscally managed state for the last couple of years.
Chris enjoys most outdoor activities, including hunting and fishing. Chris is married to Dawn Hurt and together they have 5 children. The Hurt's attend First Baptist Church in Halls. |
