| Jeff Stenquist was born in Tremonton, Utah. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah in 1996. He enjoys the outdoors and loves mountain biking, skiing, and hiking in Utah's stunning mountain ranges. He has worked as a software engineer, software architect, and volunteer for the Middle and High School Mountain Bike Club.
For the past 25 years, Jeff has been a software engineer, living and raising his family in Draper. He never thought he would get into politics or become a legislator on the hill. But after former speaker of the house, Greg Hughes approached Jeff asking him to run for city council, Jeff's love of helping the community and being involved in local government took off.
As a City Councilman for seven years Jeff oversaw countless projects including the eBay Building, The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, and the creation of the Canyons School District. Jeff has worked fought for the people of Draper by pushing back on the Geneva Rock expansion, preserving Utah's outdoors, working to lower taxes, and volunteering in the community . Jeff retired from City Council in 2017 with no plans to run for government again. However, after Representative Hughes left office to run for State Governor, Jeff stepped up to fill the seat for the state legislature.
As a state legislator, Jeff has championed practical solutions to air quality, infrastructure, and keeping kids safe. In 2019 he created a program that educates pregnant woman on the dangers of drinking while pregnant. He has also been an avid supporter of the second amendment, while also working to create programs that prevent convicted felons from obtaining guns. Jeff works towards lowering taxes and maintain fiscal responsibility. When COVID-19 hit, he worked toward maintaining the health of Utahans, while also helping keep the economy open for business. |
