Bio

I'm a proud native of Douglas County with deep roots in our community. I can vividly recall a time when Castle Rock had just one stoplight, and the entire county had only one high school. I was elected to represent Colorado House District 45 in November 2022 and brought a unique perspective and experience having served two terms as the Douglas County Assessor and worked 25 years in the Douglas County Assessor's office. In my tenure at the Douglas County Assessor's Office, I prioritized fiscal responsibility, ensuring a delicate balance between efficient government and top-notch customer service. This commitment accompanied me to the 74th General Assembly as your Representative, where I contributed my expertise to key House Committees including Business Affairs & Labor, Finance, and Appropriations. Additionally, I am honored to serve as Chair of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee and to contribute to the interim Legislative Oversight Committee Concerning Tax Policy and Task Force. As a first-term legislator, I diligently worked to pass two bills addressing the challenging property tax burden facing Coloradans. While the most impactful of these bills faced challenges, the second, allowing local governments to provide temporary property tax credits, was signed into law. My commitment to the community was further demonstrated as I ultimately passed eight bills covering various topics, including affordable housing and consumer protection. Beyond my legislative efforts, my commitment to community service runs deep. I've served as Chair and Treasurer of the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, President of the Colorado Assessors Association, 2nd Vice President of Douglas County Republican Women, Girl Scout Leader, Metropolitan District Board Director, Precinct Leader, and chaired the Castle Rock Artfest for four years. Having grown up in the county, I attended Douglas County schools and hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Colorado and postgraduate studies in accounting. I reside in Castle Rock with my husband David, and we share three children and two amazing granddaughters. I am excited to bring my problem-solving skills, fiscal responsibility, and common-sense leadership to the Colorado State Senate. These challenging times demand fresh ideas, and I believe I am the right candidate at the right time for Senate District 2. I stand as a dedicated leader committed to bringing innovation and affordability back to our great state. Your voice matters. Let's build a brighter future for Colorado, where leadership is responsive, accountable, and focused on the needs of its citizens while government works efficiently, effectively, and for you.
