| Rhonda Fields is the current State of Colorado Senator for Senate District 29.
She was the first African American woman elected to the state legislature to represent Aurora's HD 42. Representative Fields was elected to the House of Representatives in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. After her term limit, Senator Fields ran for Senate District 29, where she currently sits on the Judiciary and Agriculture committees.

Rhonda Fields graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education in 1974, and a Master's Degree in Psychology Counseling and Guidance in 1976. Upon graduation she worked at the University of Northern Colorado for eight years within the division of Student Affairs. While on campus she was an active part of course instruction, retention services, academic advisement and student mentoring. In the late '80s Rhonda moved to Denver and worked for the University of Denver before being hired by United Airlines.
Fields is a lifelong Aurora resident, raising her two children in the Aurora Public School system. A 24-year employee of United Airlines, she holds a Masters Degree from the University of Northern Colorado.
Rhonda has worked both in the corporate and public sectors. Since 1986, Rhonda has served as Regional Training Manager for United Airlines, responsible for Airport Operations Training and Development. Rhonda has proven herself as a strong and resilient leader. She believes that together we achieve more - together we can make a difference.
Fields is the founder of the Fields Wolfe Memorial Fund, a nonprofit started in memory of her son Javad Fields, and his fiance, Vivian Wolfe. The two CSU graduates were murdered on June 20, 2005, less than a week before Javad planned to testify as a key witness in the murder of his best friend. In April 2007, Fields was appointed by Gov. Bill Ritter to serve on the Colorado Commission on Criminal Juvenile Justice, and she is Board President of Voices of Victims. Fields has testified before the Colorado legislature on two successful bills, one strengthening the state's Witness Protection Programs, as well as the Javad Marshall Fields & Vivian Wolfe Witness Protection Act that is designed to develop better risk-assessment tools to elevate the safety and security of witnesses in criminal trials. |
