Chris Erwin currently serves as the director of Business Development for Carroll Daniel Construction Company. He is the current State Representative for House District 28. Rep. Erwin retired after 11 years as superintendent of Banks County School System. He previously served as a school administrator in both Carroll County and Henry County. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he received his Bachelor of Science in 1985. In 1989, he obtained his Master's degree from Georgia State University and completed his Specialist degree from the University of West Georgia in 1995. Rep. Erwin is a former president of the Georgia School Superintendents Association and recently completed serving on the executive board for the American Association of School Administrators. He is a past member of the board of directors for Georgia Association of Educational Leaders. Rep. Erwin is an active member of various civic groups within his community. He has served as the president of the Banks County Chamber of Commerce and the Banks County Rotary Club. He also served as president of the Board of Controls for Pioneer RESA from 2006 to 2008. Mr. Erwin has served as the vice-chair of the Board of Health in Banks County. His outstanding civic efforts earned him the title of "Banks County Citizen of the Year 2006." He has served as an expert witness regarding controversial topics because of his vast educational proficiency in many areas. He has addressed groups around the state and nation about the current trends and issues impacting education. In his pursuit to better prepare those of the profession, he has served as mentor and coach to many administrators throughout the state including multiple sitting superintendents. Erwin has been nominated by his peers, colleagues and board members as Superintendent of the Year for Georgia Schools and named a finalist in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In 2013, Erwin was named as Superintendent of the Year for Georgia. |
