Bio

Representative Draper is proud to represent the people of Georgia's House District 90, where she fights to advance the issues that matter to her constituents and historically underserved communities across Georgia. Representative Draper is devoted to a number of legislative issues including expanding economic opportunity, reproductive justice, gun safety, racial and social justice, climate and environmental justice, improving public education, and voting rights - her work addresses delivering on the promise of Building a Better Georgia. She has membership in several legislative caucuses including the Asian American Pacific Islander Caucus, the Hispanic Caucus, and the Working Families Caucus. Fighting for our fundamental rights has been a calling for Representative Draper throughout her life and career. During the 2020 election, she led the voting rights efforts for President Biden and Senators Warnock and Ossoff in Georgia, ensuring that hundreds of thousands of Georgians could vote and that their votes counted. In 2022, her work exposed the suspension of (and lead to the reinstatement of) automatic voter registration in Georgia. As a civil rights attorney, Representative Draper championed the rights of vulnerable and detained immigrants. While working at the SPLC, she represented a national class of immigrant children who suffered prolonged separation from their families at the hands of the U.S. government. Currently, Representative Draper helps run two entities she co-founded that support voting rights and Democracy protection in battleground states. Representative Draper's dedication to ensuring opportunities for success are available to everyone stems from her own family's immigration story. Originally from Pakistan and Spain, her parents moved to the United States in search of a better life, when Rep. Draper was a child. Through hard work, good government programs, and a lot of good luck, they achieved their American Dream. Representative Draper believes that everyone - regardless of their bank account or ZIP code - ought to have the opportunity to reach their full potential and make a better life for themselves and their family. That's a value for which she will never stop fighting. Representative Draper attended Georgia public schools, Georgia Tech, and Georgetown University Law Center. She resides in Atlanta with her husband and their three children, ages 9, 6, and 3.
