State Sen. Lana Theis was reelected in 2022 to represent the 22nd Senate District, which now includes Livingston County and parts of Genesee, Ingham, Oakland and Shiawassee counties.
During her first term as senator, Theis served as assistant president pro tempore, as chair of the Insurance and Banking and Education and Career Readiness committees, and as vice-chair of the Oversight and Regulatory Reform committees. She also held roles on the Health Policy and Human Services Committee and the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules. In addition, she also served as a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on K-12 and Michigan Department of Education.
PUBLIC SERVICE
Prior to her election to the state Senate, Theis served as state representative of the 42nd District for two terms, beginning in 2015. While in the House of Representatives, she served as chair of the House Insurance Committee, vice-chair of the House Judiciary Committee, and served as a member on the House Regulatory Reform, Law and Justice, Local Government, and Oversight and Ethics, and Financial Service committees. Theis got her start in public service as Brighton Township treasurer from 2008-2014. During that time, she served as chair of the Brighton Area Fire Authority, the Livingston County Republican Party, and the Livingston County Treasurers Association, and was a member of the Brighton Township Planning Commission.
EDUCATION
Theis graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a bachelor's degree in biology and a minor in chemistry.

She and her husband Sam have two children and one grandchild, and they reside in Brighton. |
