I got my start in Republican politics on U.S. Rep. John Zwach's campaign staff in 1970. I have served on the state Board of Nursing, the Commission on Public Service Reform and the Minnesota Education in Agricultural Leadership Council, all gubernatorial appointments.
I started teaching in the New London-Spicer school district in 1971. In 2006, I retired from the district's middle school where I was teaching American history. I also coached, leading the high school girls cross country team to three consecutive state championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
My wife, Karen, and I have three grown boys and 10 grandchildren.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing softball and basketball and occasionally participating in Civil War re-enactments. |
