| In September, 2001 Michael O'Donnell was in New York City for a business trip with plans to head to the 104th floor of Tower 1 of the World Trade Center to see his friend and colleague, Karl Smith. On that tragic day, Michael received word prior to heading out to see Karl that a plane had hit Tower 1 and would later learn that Karl would never again make it home to his family. Like many Americans, Michael was extremely troubled by the events of 9/11 and felt there was more he could be doing on behalf of the country. After seeing the coverage of the war in Afghanistan Michael's patriotism and calling for action only grew stronger. Michael made the decision to enlist in the Navy reserve where he continues to serve today.
Michael has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Through his service he has seen first-hand what is possible when a small, devoted team of patriots unite together on behalf of their country. An active member of the Boy Scouts of America since 1989, community service has always been a central part of Michael's life. Michael and his wife of nearly 22 years, Lisa, live in Oakville with their children and are active members in their community and church. |
