Mr. Stack was elected to the Senate in 2007 and re-elected in 2011, 2013 and 2017. He previously was elected to the Assembly in 2003 and served two terms. He has been mayor of Union City since October 2000. He also served on the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders, from 2000 to 2004.
The senator was born in Jersey City, and graduated from Union City's Emerson High School. He became involved in local civic issues as a teenager and became a tenant advocate in 1985. Mr. Stack served as an aide in the 33rd Legislative District office from 1983 to 1984, and 1986 to 1988. In Union City, he was an administrative assistant to the commissioner for parks and public property from 1986 to 1990 and deputy director of public affairs from 1995 to 1996.
In the Legislature, Mr. Stack has sponsored measures to bolster tenants' rights, public safety and the state's economy. |
