| Assemblymember Alex Bores is a fifth generation New Yorker who was born, raised, and spent his whole life on the East Side of Manhattan.
Alex is the first elected Democrat in Albany with a degree in computer science or a career in government technology. That career has included helping the DOJ solve violent crimes here in NYC, working with two previous Manhattan District Attorneys, Morgenthau and Vance, and building software for local governments' Covid relief programs which helped 50,000 families keep their homes warm and their water running.
He knows what it takes to make government deliver results, not rhetoric.
Alex attended elementary and high school in the 73rd district- P.S. 6, followed by Wagner and Hunter High School. He went to undergrad at Cornell and grad school at Georgia Tech, but the best education he received was on the picket line with his Dad when he was eight years old, while his Dad's union was locked out for fighting for better health care.
In his first term, he passed six measures into law, including common sense bills that protected workers' intellectual property, reduced the shortage of optometrists, raised fines on telemarketers, and created new judges to reduce court backlogs.
Alex's career has been about improving government policies and technologies from the outside. In the Assembly, he is working to fix a broken Albany from the inside.
