Bio

Dana Levenberg was first elected to represent the 95th Assembly District of New York in 2022. The district is composed of communities in northern Westchester and western Putnam County, encompassing the towns of Ossining, Cortlandt, and Philipstown and their villages; the City of Peekskill; and portions of Yorktown. In the Assembly, Dana serves on the Environmental Conservation, Housing, Corrections, Libraries and Education Technology, and Local Governments committees. Dana's experience, tireless energy, and strong connections throughout the region are the foundations for her success as a legislator. Before serving in government, Dana earned a BA from Brown University and worked in advertising and TV production in New York City. She and her husband chose Ossining as the place to grow their family. They were attracted to Ossining's great views, diverse population, and excellent schools. Both of her sons graduated from the Ossining School District. When her children were young, she stayed home for a few years as a full-time mom. Dana's work in the community - serving on the board of her sons' nursery school, leading the PTA, and as the co-founder of several not-for-profits - led her into advocacy, public service, and then elected office. She served as chief of staff to former State Assemblywoman Sandy Galef and was elected to three terms on the Ossining School Board and four terms as Ossining Town Supervisor. In the State Assembly, Dana has established herself as a responsive, productive, and effective legislator. Responsive Dana listens to her constituents and takes action on our concerns. So far, she has delivered more than $5.7 million in grant funding for programs around the district and is working for environmental sustainability, infrastructure improvements, and communities that are affordable and welcoming for all New Yorkers. Productive By the end of her first session, Dana had passed more prime-sponsored legislation than any other first-year member of the Assembly. Her laws are improving quality of life in our local communities and protecting precious natural assets, like the Hudson River. Effective Whether it's getting a culvert replaced on a state road or stopping a multinational corporation from polluting our river, Dana is taking action on the issues that matter most to Hudson Valley residents and getting things done.
