As State Representative I remind the Rhode Island Assembly that Newport is a world renowned community and the star of our State. I commit to our shared vision of Newport, the community that we love. I will support economic vitality, environmental resilience and the quality of life that has drawn us to live in this special place.
I have lived in Newport for over 20 years and I believe that public service is imperative for all of us. My unique combination of business and advocacy experience has prepared me for this Assembly seat to represent Newport. My years of experience as a civic leader, small business owner and community advocate in Newport have led me to take this next step of public service.
Since I was first elected, I have worked on issues related to the environment, small business, tourism, government transparency, and supporting Newport. I currently serve as Deputy Majority Leader and as the second vice chair of the House Innovation and Internet Committee. I am also a member of the House Environment and Natural Resources, Small Business and Oversight Committees. I have placed a high emphasis on communication and serving constituents.
I have also served on the Advisory Board of the Alliance for Livable Newport and the Newport Energy & Environment Commission. I obtained an MA in history from the University of Rhode Island in 2008, my MBA from URI in 1992, and a BA in sociology from Ramapo College in New Jersey. I'm a graduate of Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Born on February 26, 1954, I'm the mother of one son, Andrew. |
