| Born in Williamston, South Carolina, Billy Garrett is a lifelong resident of South Carolina and proud to represent District 10 in the South Carolina Senate.
Senator Billy Garrett is a conservative, a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather who is guided by his faith in God, defense of our Constitution and the Rule of Law, and the commitment to leave his community better off.
Hard work is the essence of Billy's drive. He got his first job shining shoes at the age of 12 years old and went to work for Piggly Wiggly as a freshman at Greenwood High School. His determination fueled him to earn degrees at Lander University and the University of South Carolina School of Law where he met his future wife, Denise (Dee) Witt.
In 1976, Billy married Dee, and together were blessed with two children and two grandchildren. They opened their first business together, the Garrett Law Firm and Greenwood Mediation Center, after 16 years in the grocery industry. For 30 years, their business has served their community with distinguished reputation, success and trust.
In 2020, Billy decided to take the next step in service to the community by running for the State Senate. His message to voters was simple, but important- "I will provide new conservative leadership, be accessible and accountable to you, and work hard every day to honor my word and better our state, beginning at home first." Billy won election to the State Senate, upsetting an 11-year incumbent, with 56% of the vote.
Since being elected to the Senate, Billy has kept his promises and has earned a reputation as a never-quit fighter who comes prepared to move District 10 and South Carolina forward in his policy-making duties.
