Bio

Robin is a lifelong resident of Racine County. Born and raised in Burlington, Robin and his family have long ties to western Racine County. Robin's great grandparents came to Racine County in the 1850s as dairy farmers. His relatives still farm the family homestead. Robin is a small business owner himself. He runs a variety of businesses in southeastern Wisconsin including rental properties, a car wash and a popcorn company. Since buying RoJos Popcorn Company in Burlington in 1996, Robin has successfully grown the business from a small 3-person, family-operated business to an operation that now employs more than two dozen people. His focus on customer-service has helped him grow his business and shape his life as a public servant. Since being elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2004, Robin has made thousands of phone calls to his constituents in an effort to listen and learn more about the issues that are important to his constituents and their families. Whether you need assistance in navigating a government agency, have an idea to make government more efficient or simply want to express an opinion, Robin is always available to listen. Robin uses his constituents' input as he works for a more efficient and effective government that holds the line on taxes. Now in his seventh term in office, Robin serves as the Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly. He leads the majority of 63 Republicans and is the presiding officer of the chamber. Previously, Robin was the Assembly co-chair of the powerful Joint Committee on Finance in the 2011-12 legislative session. Before being elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2004, Robin served on the Racine County Board for 10 years. During his tenure on the board, Robin played a key role in shaping the county budget by serving as the chair of the Finance Committee. While serving on the county board, property tax increases were kept to a minimum and any increases were consistently below the state average. Robin received his degree from UW - Whitewater in 1991 with a double major in Political Science and Public Relations. During college, Robin developed a passion for public service and became active in student government. He was appointed by Governor Tommy Thompson as the student representative on the UW Board of Regents. Robin strives to make life better for the residents of Racine County. He is a member of many civic organizations, including the Rotary and the Knights of Columbus. He also is involved in many area chambers of commerce and the Racine County Republican Party. Robin and his wife Michelle live in Rochester.
