Clemson Advocates Update--February 22, 2016

THIS WEEK IN SOUTH CAROLINA
The South Carolina House of Representatives was on furlough last week.

Floor debate began last week in the Senate on H.3579 (Infrastructure Funding) with Senator Tom Davis (R-Beaufort) filibustering for two days. Senate floor debate on the roads bill will continue this week.

BUDGET
Last week, the House Ways and Means Proviso Subcommittee reviewed all provisos in the budget. The full Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to debate the state budget beginning tomorrow.

The Clemson University Governmental Affairs office is monitoring several bills that have potential impact on Clemson.  A complete listing of these bills may be found here.  Click on the bill number for a description of the legislation, along with the bill's current status.

CLEMSON ON CAPITOL HILL
Congress Returns
After a week-long adjournment, both the House and Senate return to Capitol Hill. The Senate will reconvene at 3:00 pm today and the House will reconvene tomorrow with votes scheduled for 6:30 pm.
