Day 1 The 153^rd session of the general assembly began today. Senate and House members were sworn in at 10:00 a.m. at 2:00 p.m., the inauguration of the constitutional officers of the State of Georgia was conducted. Governor Deal was sworn in for his second term, and State School Superintendent Richard Woods began his first term. Due to the cool and rainy weather, the inauguration was moved from the new Liberty Plaza into the Capitol. Please remember to take a moment to congratulate the constitutional officers and members of your delegation.

In the upcoming week, Governor Deal’s State of the State Address will be delivered at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Budget hearings will begin on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 with School Superintendent Woods’ presentation from 11:15 – 12 noon. Governor Deal’s budget presentation is scheduled for Thursday, January, 22, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The legislators will return to the Capitol for Day 2 of the session at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015.
