Day 5- After a week of budget hearings, the tempo at the
capitol is picking up. The House and
Senate both met briefly today. The first
meeting of the Senate Education and Youth Committee occurred in the afternoon. The members of the committee voted on the
committee rules. SB 2 was presented and
discussed. SB
2 Education addresses the awarding of a high
school diploma to students who complete certain requirements relating to
postsecondary coursework. After
questions and discussion, the bill will be amended and will be brought back to
the committee for a second hearing and vote to move it to the floor of the
Senate. We will post the amended bill at
this site when it is available. Day 6 will be on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. The House Appropriation
Educational Subcommittee will meet in the morning before the Senate and
House go into session at 10:00 a.m. Senate Education and Youth Committee will meet Wednesday
