“I’ve never had a paycheck off this farm,” Jay Sullivan of Sullivan Farms said thoughtfully. “I guess I was born to it.” He and his son Jarman are the third and fourth generations to farm in their family’s Sampson County, North Carolina, land. “From a very early age, we were expected to take part. When I was young, I remember riding the combine with Daddy and going to tobacco sales,” Jay Sullivan reminisced. “He taught us a love for agricultural Extension.
