Anson County is home to over 400 farmers who grow food and fiber. Each farm has a unique story. This year Anson Cooperative Extension highlights Peachland NC farmer, Chad Horne. Chad grew up on a small farm where his family raised hogs and cows. As a youth he participated in county livestock show circuits. During that time his father gave him a colt from a mare the family used to plow the garden. Chad eventually sold the colt when he was in the third grade, and with the money, “bought a go-cart, 3 pigs, and put $100 in the bank,” he recalled, “and that just kind of set me on fire. I wanted to be able to sell animals from then on.”
