Robert Elliott never expected to be farming again. Elliott grew up around agriculture but then joined the Marine Corp when he was 17. “Came back 15 years later injured and had a hard time finding a job. Basically, I didn’t want to get back into farming, but veterans transitional issues, when you go from the military back to civilian life it can be hard, extremely hard and of all things farming saved my life,” Elliott said. Years ago, Elliott started the Soldiers To Agriculture Program for N.C. State. Now, he’s started The Veteran’s Farm of North Carolina as an expansion of that program, which offers a variety of hands-on experiences. For more of this story, click here.
