The following referendums were approved on May 6:

Patterson (Cleveland County), malt beverages and fortified wine

Topsail Beach (Pender County), beer by the glass

Rockingham County, liquor by the drink and county ABC store

Carteret County, hotels, restaurants and convention facilities may offer liquor by the drink; previously, it was only allowed in some beachfront towns.

Northampton County, liquor by the drink, previously only allowed at permitted facilities within one mile of Interstate 95.

The following referendums were defeated:

Bladen County and Sampson County, sale of beer and wine in unincorporated sections of the county and in towns that had not previously approved alcohol sales
