Report from the Capitol - Day 7
15076 on 1/27/2010

At this afternoon’s meeting of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, PAGE lobbyists testified regarding the 2010 Supplemental Budget.  PAGE asked the House members to reconsider further educator furloughs and increasing class sizes.

Employees from the Department of Early Care and Learning, the Employees Retirement System of Georgia, and the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) described their budgets to the subcommittee. GOSA representatives described their plan to complete Georgia’s Student Information System (the information system has been under construction for over fifteen years), which would be an integral part of Governor Perdue’s pay for performance proposal.

Mark your calendars now to attend 2010 PAGE Day on Capitol Hill on February 23. Please join us at the capitol to speak with your legislators about the state budget and other important education issues. RSVP to this free event to Tamme Bell as tbell@pageinc.org or at (770) 216-8555.
