BioEddie Lumsden was elected to state office in November of 2012 and represents House District 12, which includes all of Chattooga County and a portion of Floyd County. Eddie is a lifelong resident of Floyd County. He is a graduate of Armuchee High School, Floyd College and Berry College. He is a veteran, retired state trooper and small business owner. Immediately after graduating from high school, Eddie joined the U.S. Air Force/Air Guard, where he spent six years serving his country. After completing active service, he returned to Floyd County where he attended Floyd College. While attending college, he went to work with the Georgia State Patrol as a way to pay for college. It turned into a 27 year career. He retired as a master trooper in 1999. He earned an associate's degree from Floyd College and went on to complete a bachelor's degree in communications and public relations from Berry College. Eddie is married to his childhood sweetheart, Teresa Pearson. They have two daughters, Julie and Rebecca. They have four grandchildren. Eddie and Teresa have been married for 47 years. In 1988, Teresa and Eddie started Teresa Lumsden Insurance Agency, Inc. They have successfully owned and operated it for more than thirty years. They market State Farm insurance and financial service products throughout Georgia. Prior to seeking state office, Eddie was twice elected to the Floyd County Commission. He served for five years before stepping down to run for the Georgia House of Representatives. He served as chairman of the commission in 2010 and 2011. Eddie has been involved in his community for many years. He is an active member of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Armuchee Ruritan Club, a member of the American Legion Post #5 and an Affiliate Member of the Rome Board of Realtors. He was appointed by Governor Perdue to the State Consumer Advisory Board and served in that role for six years. He is a deacon and worship leader at Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church where he serves on the security team. He currently serves as chairman of House Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment Committee and serves on Rules, Insurance, Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, Public Safety and Homeland Security, State Properties, Governmental Affairs, Human Relations and Aging and Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight committees.
