BioState Representative Mandisha A. Thomas represents the citizens of House District 65, which includes portions of Coweta, Douglas and Fulton counties. Specifically, she serves as the voice of constituents across unincorporated Newnan and Douglas counties, Douglasville, Chattahoochee Hills, City of South Fulton, City of Palmetto and Union City. Rep. Thomas was sworn into the Georgia House of Representatives in January 2021. She currently serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications and Industry and Labor committees. Rep. Thomas currently chairs the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus' Agriculture & Environmental Committee. Known as a political "farmer" Rep. Thomas seeds, plants and harvests citizen engagement through specialized programming across the state. She is the creator of the Georgia Environmental Justice Education and Awareness Symposium, "An Agriculture Christmas" annual event, South Fulton Environmental Justice Academy and Agri-Literacy Camp. She also coordinates agribusiness tours, which encourages citizens to learn more about Georgia's agriculture industry and small farming operations. As a legislator, Rep. Thomas works to introduce inclusive legislation that will benefit her constituents and the state as a whole. Some of the most notable bills Rep. Thomas has introduced include House Bill 1309, the Georgia Urban Farming Youth Initiative Act; House Bill 966, the Solar Consumer Awareness Act; House Bill 69, the Georgia Triple Threat SNAP Act; and House Resolution 10, legislation which would establish the House Study Committee on Public Water Systems Serving Disadvantaged Communities. Rep. Thomas is originally from Oakland, California. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Grambling State University and a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University. She owns a small health policy consulting company and a community engagement non-profit.
