BioMiriam Paris is a fourth-generation native of Macon-Bibb County. She comes from a large family, with five brothers and one sister, and her parents are Javors J. and Mary D. Lucas. Miriam received her education from Bibb County public schools and is currently enrolled at Mercer University.
With over 25 years of experience, Miriam is a veteran realtor. She has been actively serving her community since 2006 when she became a member and later the President of the Macon City Council. From 2011 to 2013, she served as a GA State Senator, where she played a significant role in consolidating the city of Macon and Bibb County. Currently, Miriam serves in the GA House of Representatives, where she is a member of various committees such as Appropriations, Education K-12, Tourism and Economic Development, Special Rules, and Urban Development.
Miriam has always been a lifelong Democrat, and her motto, "Stronger families create stronger communities" reflects her commitment to society. However, her greatest asset is her family, and she values spending quality time with them and her close friends. She is also a proud owner of a beloved 14-year-old Shih Tzu named Lily, as she believes that dogs are a woman's best friend, second only to diamonds.
In her free time, Miriam enjoys music, art, reading, and traveling. She is passionate about upholding democracy and hopes that her legacy will be one of helping others along the way. Despite her accomplishments, Miriam has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
