While serving as Chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, Mark organized support for laws to make community college free, protect our air and water, make housing more affordable and combat the homelessness crisis. In 2022, he helped lead the fight to pass a constitutional amendment in California protecting a woman's right to access safe, legal abortion care. In 2023, he worked to pass a new law ensuring that all healthcare workers receive a minimum wage of $25/hour.

The son of a single mother, Mark grew up in Section 8 housing and understands the challenges faced by working families. His family's struggles led him to a career as an advocate on behalf of his community. After his mother suffered a stroke two years ago, Mark Gonzalez has become her sole caregiver. As her caregiver, Gonzalez takes his mom to the grocery store, doctor appointments and physical therapy sessions. He secures prescriptions, attends church with her every Sunday, ensures her bills are paid on time and monitors her mental health. In this role, he's witnessed the failures of government, social programs and the healthcare system in adequately supporting vulnerable seniors.

Mark will fight to raise wages for working families, tackle LA's homelessness and housing affordability crises and guarantee healthcare as a right for all.
