BioSenator Jason Anavitarte w as elected to the Georgia State Senate to serve Senate District 31 in November of 2020. A Republican from Dallas, Georgia, Senator Anavitarte's District covers Polk County and most of Paulding County. His Republican colleagues elected him to serve as Senate Majority Caucus Chairman for the 2023-2024 Legislative Session. He is also the Chairman of the Hispanic Legislative Caucus. Sen. Anavitarte currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and the Environment. He also serves as an Ex-Officio member of the Senate Committees on Government Oversight, Rules, and Veterans, Military, and Homeland Security. In addition, he is a voting member of the Senate Committees on Appropriations, Ethics, Finance, Reapportionment and Redistricting, and Transportation. Before starting a career in public service and community development, Sen. Anavitarte received his undergraduate degree from Georgia State University. He then went onto receive his M.S. in Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2003, Sen. Anavitarte became the youngest Hispanic elected in Georgia through his election to the City Council of his hometown, Doraville, Georgia. During his time serving on the City Council, Sen. Anavitarte also became the youngest to serve as Mayor Pro-Tempore in metro Atlanta. In 2018, he was also elected to serve as a member of the Paulding County School Board. He has been recognized as one of the 50 Most Influential Latinos in Georgia, and has previously served as the 2016 Chairman for Senator Marco Rubio's Georgia Presidential Campaign. In 2020, he served as part of the National Latinos for Trump coalition. Sen. Anavitarte is a graduate of the AEI Leadership Network and was previously named as one of GOPAC's 2022 National Emerging Leaders. Sen. Anavitarte's service in the community has included a position as the Past Chairman for Chattahoochee Technical College's Board of Trustees and as a member of the Paulding County Drug Court's Executive Committee. Additionally, he serves within the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization and the Faith and Freedom Coalition. A resident of Dallas, Georgia, Sen. Anavitarte and his wife Jennifer have three daughters and attend Burnt Hickory Church.
