BioSenator John Albers represents the 56th District, which includes portions of Fulton, Cobb and Cherokee County. He serves as chairman of the Public Safety committee, vice chairman of Finance, and subcommittee chairman of the Appropriations committee. He is also a member of the Rules, Regulated Industries, and Government Oversight committees. Senator Albers has long been an active member of his community. His affiliations include numerous boards of directors for business, civic and charitable organizations. Senator Albers served as a fourth-generation firefighter and his sons continue the family legacy as 5th generation first responders. Senator Albers is an organ donor and gave a kidney to his son in 2021. After the donation, Senator Albers passed the Giving the Gift of Life Act and became a national advocate for organ donation. Senator Albers earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Louisville. Albers also graduated from the University of Georgia, Legislative Leadership Institute, and the Cybersecurity program at Harvard University. When not attending to state business, Senator Albers is an executive, business owner and entrepreneur. He and his wife, Kari of 30 years, have two sons and are members of Roswell United Methodist Church.
