BioAlex Burton is an Evansville City Councilman and an innovative business leader at Berry Global focused on ushering, developing, and forecasting talent across the North American footprint. Councilman Burton is a leading voice for neighborhood revitalization, equity, food access, youth development, and housing.
Since being elected to serve the 4th Ward in 2019, Alex has been a consistent voice for progress and is determined to ensure 'e' truly is for everyone. Councilman Burton has a vision for Evansville and the entire region. In his first term, Alex was chosen to serve as President, and he has not looked back. He is committed to implementing sound policy, growing Southwestern Indiana, and ensuring that the lives of Hoosiers are better because of his service.
Councilman Burton has created multiple programs geared towards helping youth, adults, and families reach their fullest potential with federal, state, and local resources. He also serves on several nonprofit boards. As Councilman, Alex has brought people and organizations together to address our biggest challenges. His willing spirit to serve makes our community stronger, better, and more collaborative.
All of Councilman Burton's sponsored legislation have passed; this is evidence of his desire to build strong working relationships with his colleagues, ensuring that each resolution and/or ordinance had bipartisan support, and that all opinions were heard and considered before any actions were taken. Alex's record is proof that good things can happen when the right people are elected. From the creation of Feed Evansville during the pandemic to standing up for those living in substandard housing simply put - Alex cares and he always has. Years ago, he interned for former Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel, former U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper (TN-05), and U.S. Rep. Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09), and he made it his mission to never stop genuinely learning and serving ever since.
He is the son of Mr. Rickey and Mrs. Lana Burton and a proud alum of Bosse High School, Indiana State University, and Western Kentucky University. He is married to Dr. Xavia H. Burton and together, they have two active dogs (Susie and Rallo). The Burtons also welcomed their first child (Arrington Robert) in December. They reside in the 4th Ward of Evansville between Bellemeade and Bayard Parks. There is nowhere else they'd rather be.
