BioRep. Donni Steele was elected state representative in November 2022. She represents the 54th House District, which includes the city of Bloomfield Hills, Orion Township, a portion of the city of Auburn Hills, and portions of Bloomfield Township and Oakland Township.
Committees
Donni serves on the House Appropriations Committee, which handles the state budget. She also serves as the Republican vice chair on the Transportation Appropriations subcommittee and as a member on the Health and Human Services subcommittee.
Education
A lifelong Oakland County resident, Donni graduated from Lake Orion High School. She then studied at Western Michigan University, earning a Bachelor of Science in business administration.
Professional
Donni has more than two decades of small-business experience and a decade of local government service. She worked as an associate broker, assistant manager, property manager, and realtor at Partridge & Associates - a local independent real estate firm. Later, she became part owner of Coldwell Banker Shooltz Realty in Oxford, where she was also an associate broker, manager, and realtor. Prior to her election to the House, Donni served as an Orion Township trustee for four years and Orion Township treasurer for six years. As treasurer, she made her office more accessible to local taxpayers and worked to conserve their money and time through efficient cost savings and convenient transactions.
Personal
Donni and her husband, Phil, reside in Orion Township. The Steeles have been married for more than three decades, and they have two sons, Max and Colton.
Community involvement
Desiring a safe bike path for her sons' ride to school, Donni worked to help make community pathways safer. She also joined the Orion Township Safety Path Advisory Committee in 2014, and served as chair and secretary of the board. Donni has also held leadership positions on the boards of the Polly Ann Trailway Management Council and the Paint Creek Trailways Commission. While serving in local government, she played an active role in the Oakland County chapter of the Michigan Townships Association and Oakland County Treasurers Association. Donni worships at Kensington Church in Troy. Donni also was a board member for the Corridor Improvement Authority to help expand Brown Road and open economic development along the corridor of Brown Road between Orion and Auburn Hills.
