BioState Rep. Bradley Slagh was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2018. He represents the 85th District, which encompasses parts of Ottawa County, including Georgetown and Zeeland Township, the cities of Hudsonville and Zeeland, and parts of Jamestown and Holland townships.
Committees
Rep. Slagh sits on the House Appropriations Committee. Specifically, he serves as Republican vice chair of the Corrections Subcommittee and as a member of the Subcommittee on Joint Capital Outlay and the Subcommittee on Military and Veterans Affairs and State Police.
Education
Rep. Slagh holds a Bachelor's in business administration from Hope College. He is also a 2007 graduate of the Michigan Political Leadership Program, a multi-partisan education program, through Michigan State University.
Professional
Before taking office, Rep. Slagh spent 18 years in the financial services industry working first for First Michigan Bank, and then for Byron Center State Bank. Brad then served as Zeeland Township Supervisor for more than five years, and as Ottawa County Treasurer for 11 years. Brad is a licensed realtor and is the supervising partner of a family-owned property management business.
Public Office Affiliations
Rep. Slagh has been active in many organizations over the years. He was elected to the executive team of Michigan Association of County Treasurers and served as the president in 2016. Brad has also served as a board member for Michigan CLASS and is currently a member of the Zeeland Chamber of Commerce.
Personal
Brad has been married to his wife, Carol, for 37 years and they live in the Zeeland area. They have three grown, married children. Brad and Carol are members of Ridge Pointe Church in Holland. Brad enjoys the privilege of leading the Legislators Bible Study in Lansing.
