BioState Rep. Bill G. Schuette was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2022. Schuette represents the 95th House District, which includes all of Midland County, and Beaverton, Billings and Tobacco townships in Gladwin County.
Committees
Rep. Schuette serves on the House Appropriations Committee. He also serves as the Republican vice chair on the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs/Insurance and Financial Services Appropriations subcommittee and as a member of the Environment and Great Lakes Appropriations subcommittee and the Judiciary Appropriations subcommittee.
Education
Schuette is a lifelong Midlander who attended Midland Public Schools K-12 and graduated from Dow High School. He earned his B.S and M.A. with honors from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
Professional and personal background
Schuette served as an Intelligence Officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) where he worked as one of the agency's leading counter-drug analysts and was sent to Mexico in support of U.S. Special Operations Command. In 2020, the DIA deployed Schuette to the Middle East in support of Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve, which was the U.S. military's principal counter-ISIS force.
Following his support of our counter-terror forces, Schuette returned to Midland and worked on the Public Policy team of Dow Inc., where he identified emerging geopolitical developments and their potential impact on the company's business goals.
Schuette enjoys running, deer hunting and volunteering with the Dow High football team, his local church and the Midland Area Community Foundation. He is a member of the NRA, Right to Life of Michigan, the Michigan Farm Bureau and Midland Business Alliance.
