BioBidal Duran is seeking to represent Minnesota House District 2A. The district consists of parts of Beltrami and Clearwater Counties and all of Lake of the Woods County in northern Minnesota.
Bidal grew up in Princeton, Minnesota. In 2003, Bidal moved to Bemidji, Minnesota, to attend Bemidji State University for Criminal Justice. In 2007, Bidal joined the United States Marine Corps and moved back into the area in 2011. He has been in the Bemidji Area since and calls it his home.
Bidal is married to Rebecca, and they have three children- Alejandra, Solvera, and Peytra. Bidal and Rebecca have been Married for 16 years. Bidal believes and is dedicated to Service Beyond Self.
In 2007, Bidal joined the United States Marine Corps to serve his country. During his time in the Marine Corps, Bidal was deployed twice with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines (Infantry Battalion). Once on a Marine Expeditionary Deployment (Japan, Philippines, Thailand, and Australia) and a Combat Deployment to Sangin, Afghanistan. Bidal attended the squad leaders course as a Lance Corporal (E-3) (Considered an E-4 and E-5 Course) and was eventually meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal (E-4). Bidal deployed to Sangin, Afghanistan in 2010. During this tough deployment, they had over 300 wounded, and 25 Marines made the ultimate sacrifice. Bidal was a team leader during his combat deployment to Sangin, Afghanistan.
For eleven years, Bidal has been serving his community as a peace officer starting in January 2013. For eight and a half of those years, he served as a police officer for the Bemidji Police Department. Since June of 2020, Bidal has been serving his community as a Deputy with the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office. During his time as a deputy, Bidal also served as a member of the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force.
