Novotny retired from his 33+ year career in Law Enforcement on May 28th, 2020. During his career Novotny served in many different assignments including Patrol Sergeant, Investigative Sergeant and Firearms Instructor for the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office. He has been involved in coaching youth sports, teaching firearms safety, leading a confirmation group at his church and is an active private pilot. Currently, Paul serves on the Public Safety Finance and Policy Committee as the Minority lead, the Way and Means Committee and Human Services Policy Committee at the capitol. He has been an outspoken supporter of the sanctity of life, protection of the 2nd amendment and individual liberties over big government. Novotny represents the people of House District 30B, which encompasses Elk River, Nowthen, and parts of Otsego and Oak Grove.
