BioAssemblyman Robert J. Karabinchak is currently serving his fifth term as representative of New Jersey's 18th Legislative District. The 18th Legislative district consists of the Middlesex municipalities of East Brunswick, Edison, Highland Park, Metuchen, Milltown, South Plainfield, and South River. He was appointed to the New Jersey General Assembly in May 2016 and was re-elected in 2017.
Prior to representing the 18th Legislative District, he served the residents of Edison for 16 years. This included eight years on the Zoning Board of Adjustments, and eight years on the Township Council as Councilmember, before becoming Council President. Additionally, Assemblyman Karabinchak served as a member of the council's Finance, Open Space and Master Plan committees. He is a former Middlesex County Utilities Authority commissioner.
Assemblyman Karabinchak currently serves as Chair of the Assembly State and Local Government Committee, and is a member of the Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee and Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee. He previously served as Deputy Majority Whip from 2018 to 2019. The Assemblymen's top priorities include investing in clean energy and renewable resources, improving our infrastructure, and tax reform.
A lifelong resident of Edison, he is a local business owner, working as President of Tri-form Construction in Metuchen. Assemblyman Karabinchak is married to his wife of 42 years, Linda. They are the parents of three adult children, Steven, Brian and Lori.
