Bio

Jerry Nadler is the fighter this current moment demands. As Republicans strip Americans of their fundamental rights and push an extremist agenda, it's never been more important to have voices like Jerry's-a leader with a proven, principled track record of standing up to GOP abuses-fighting for us in Congress. Jerry leads New Yorkers and he leads like a New Yorker- he always stands up for what he believes and he never backs down.

As Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jerry oversaw a remarkably far-reaching legislative agenda. Under his watch, the Judiciary Committee was the most productive Committee in the House, advancing bill after bill to strengthen America's gun laws, reform our criminal justice system, protect the right to vote, ensure equal anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ individuals, end forced arbitration for workers, lower prescription drug costs, and much more. Jerry can walk and chew gum at the same time-he achieved that progress while simultaneously holding the Trump Administration accountable for its attacks on our democracy.

No one has worked more tenaciously to improve our city than Jerry. On top of delivering the funding for the 2nd Avenue Subway and the Gateway Program, Jerry has led the national fight to increase federal funding for mass transit. He's made sure that New Yorkers have greener parks, cleaner city streets, and safer communities to raise their kids in.

A life-long fighter for New York and its residents, Jerry came to center stage as the "Ground Zero Congressman" ably representing the district that was hit in the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks and working tirelessly in the aftermath to deliver substantial federal aid to first responders and survivors. During COVID, Jerry stood up for our hard-hit city-he made sure that New York schools had safe air for educators and students to breathe and ensured that small businesses received the support they needed to stay open.

The son of a chicken farmer, Jerry was born in Brooklyn and is a graduate of Crown Heights Yeshiva, Stuyvesant High School, Columbia College and Fordham Law School. He lives on the Upper West Side with his wife Joyce. They have one son, Michael, and they recently became proud grandparents.
