BioMark has received numerous awards and recognition for his legislative work, including six 'Legislator of the Year' Awards. He was nominated to serve as a member of Leadership Tennessee. Lipscomb University's Institute for Conflict Management has honored Mark as Alumni of the Year.
A small business owner, Mark founded 'Grand Events & Party Rentals' which grew into a successful business with 100+ employees.
Mark's passion for education and children led him and his wife, Kathy, to establish 'Global Children's Education Foundation'. This organization provides financial assistance and an opportunity to receive an education to impoverished children in the Republic of Panama. He authored "May I Call You Dad - Why Father's Are Needed in the Home". Drawing from practical experience, Mark addressed the importance of fathers as leaders within the home and the difference one person can make in the life of a child.
Mark was born in Union City and spent most of his childhood years living in Naples, Florida, where his father was a minister. The family moved back to Memphis when Mark was in high school. He is a graduate of University of Memphis, majoring in Education, and received a Master's degree in 'Conflict Management' from Lipscomb University in May 2018.
Mark began his career as a teacher at Harding Academy in Memphis and taught science to fifth, sixth and seventh graders. After being voted 'Teacher of the Year' in 1976, he was appointed Principal of Harding Academy Wooddale in 1977.
Mark and Kathy have been married over 40 years and reside in Memphis. Their daughter and son-in-law, Bonny & Mike Osterhage live in San Antonio with their two grandsons, Jack and Ty.
