BioCongresswoman Erica Lee Carter represents the 18th Congressional District of Texas.
Congresswoman Lee Carter is dedicated to serving the people of the 18th Congressional District of Texas through legislative and policy initiatives aimed at protecting and uplifting our communities.
Before entering politics, she served as a regional quality coordinator for a nonprofit public health organization, and as a teacher in the Houston Independent School District. In 2012, Congresswoman Lee Carter ran for a position as Trustee of the Harris County Department of Education, where she served the 1st Precinct from January of 2013 to January of 2019. She was elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Eighteenth Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of her mother, United States Representative Sheila Jackson Lee. She will serve as representative through the end of the 118th Congress.
Congresswoman Lee Carter graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.A., 2002) and earned a Master of Public Policy from Duke University (M.P.P., 2006). She is married, with two children.
