BioBilly Hickman, a Republican, was elected to the Georgia Senate in a special election in 2020 to represent District 4, which includes Bulloch, Candler, Effingham and Evans Counties, and portions of Chatham County. Sen. Hickman serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Higher Education and Secretary of the Senate Committee on Finance. Sen. Hickman also serves as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and Higher Education as well as a member of the Senate Committees on Appropriations and Economic Development and Tourism. Sen. Hickman is from Statesboro and is a certified public accountant. Sen. Hickman graduated from Georgia Southern College in 1974 and joined the frim of Dabbs, Hickman, Hill, and Cannon, LLP. He previously served in a variety of leadership positions including past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Southern University Foundation, Inc., President of the Statesboro-Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce and he currently serves on the Board of East Georgia Regional Medical Center. Sen. Hickman is married to Jo Ann and they have two sons and five grandsons. They are active members of First Baptist Church of Statesboro.
