Bio

With over 30 years of experience in public policy and advocacy, Kristen McDonald Rivet knows first-hand how to champion for our community and step up as a leader.

Throughout her career, Kristen has been on the ground advocating for systemic change to improve educational opportunities, revitalize neighborhoods, increase youth development programs and create public policy addressing institutional inequity issues. She has worked alongside educators, entrepreneurs, parents, and policymakers to improve the lives of families in the district and throughout the state. Now, she intends to take her experience to the State Senate and get the work done.

Kristen currently serves as a Bay City Commissioner and Chief Strategy Officer for Michigan Health Improvement Alliance which focuses on improving health and the health delivery system in central Michigan. Learn more about how Kristen's present and past work has improved outcomes for Michigan working families and for children here- Kristen earned her bachelor's degree at Michigan State University and her master's degree in education and public administration at University of Michigan-Flint.

She and her husband, Joseph, are proud parents of six children and currently live in Bay City.
